Sailing Lapwing: Testing, Tuning & Remembering Why We Love the Sea
There’s something very special about the first weeks with a new yacht.
Our L34 Lapwing has officially joined the Angela Collins Yachts family, and lately Angela has been out sailing her as often as possible — not just for the joy of it, but to really get to know her.
These early sails are all about learning.
We test everything. How she handles in light airs. How she feels when the breeze builds. How the sails set, how the helm responds, how the systems work together. Some things confirm exactly what we hoped for. Other things surprise us — and that’s the beauty of it. A yacht tells you what works and what doesn’t only once you take her out and really sail her.
Every hour on the water with Lapwing is part sea trial, part fine-tuning session.
We adjust, refine, and improve — not because anything is wrong, but because the goal is always to make a good yacht even better. Comfort, performance, balance, and simplicity all matter when you’re creating a yacht that’s a pleasure to sail, not just to look at.
But beyond the testing and tweaking, there’s something more important happening too.
Being out there — just the boat, the wind, and the sea — is a reminder of why we do this in the first place. Sailing slows everything down. It clears the head. It reconnects you with nature in a way very few things can. It’s not about speed or numbers — it’s about feel, rhythm, and freedom.
That’s what Lapwing gives us.
And that’s what we want every yacht we represent to offer its owner: not just a vessel, but a lifestyle, a sense of adventure, and a place where time feels different.
We’ll keep sailing, testing, learning, and sharing the journey — and Lapwing is just getting started.
