what do you expect buying a preowned yacht ?
What do you expect buying an old pre-owned yacht in South Africa.
Firstly, there are no new monohull yachts being built for the ordinary sailer; not counting the odd racing, hitech ones being built mainly for export. No new yachts have been built in the last 20 years, these were the Fast 42, Leisure and Pacer 42 and my yachts, the Bluebay 37 a Lavranos design. The rest of your yachts are 30 to 40 + years old, so if you are a buyer in the market you nead to bear that in mind and in saying that be prepared that even if the yacht has been well ceared for there are many things on the yacht that are tired / broken / needing to be fixed or replaced – so in saying that I am always surprised when people say “oh it’s not that nice “look that needs replacing”all the ropes are worn out” what on earth did they think ? do they think they are buying a new boat? so the point I would like to make to all potential buyers expect to do so, or a lot of TLC and part with on going expenses, after all most old yachts will need the navigation systems replaced with more modern up to date equipment, not to mention running rigging /ropes and much more the list will go on.
How ever, if you would like a yacht with all brand new shiny equipment and nice shiny yacht out the box / factory, I am starting on production of the TOSCA 39 cruising family yacht. Have a look on my website at new yachts – the Tosca is a proven Lavranos design and there are probably more than 50 of them cruising all over the world at this moment. The price is coming in at R3,5 million.but you get a brand new yacht, customized for you.
old yachts cost money so do new yachts
Tosca 39 new factory build 2024
the Tosca 39 is not a new design ,there were very many of them made in the 80s and almost all are scatered around the world having cercumnavitated the glob – the Tosca 39 is a ideal yacht for family or couples cruising given its centre cockpit and aft cabin with very spacious interior and sugar scoop stern making it a strong safe yacht that can handle any weather conditions – the new factory build has some changes mostly to do with the very modern interior ,the design itself is perfect so needs no modifications.
Angela Collins Yachts will be building the new Tosca 39 – here in Cape Town on orders ,this gives owners a good opertunity to customize there new yacht.
there are no new monohull yachts beeing build in south africa leaving your option only to buying old yachts well over 20 years old or to buy a yacht overseas and a much higher cost then the Tosca 39 comming in at R3,5 milloion.
if you are in the market and this is in you budget spend we would be happy to discuss the posability of offering you a new yacht.
